Fans pledge to 'Wear Green'

December 11, 2009

In the very first of our 'Fan Focus' interviewees, amazulufc.net speaks to Warwick Chapman, a recently converted supporter of 'Usuthu' aboout the game on Sunday, amongst other things...

Why do you think it's important to 'Wear Green' on Sunday?

Well it's important for all matches because we as fans will be able to identify each other when we arrive at the stadium, and therefore can sit together as one unit. This means we can sing and blow our Vuvuzela's in unison!

So Warwick, how do you see the game panning out on Sunday?

We will surely give Mamelodi Sundowns a good run for their money, the team is beginning to pick up form again so I see us coming out with guns blazing come Sunday.

How long have you been a supporter of 'Usuthu'?

I am a new supporter, only this year. I see myself staying for a life time as a fan of this great club.

Have you played football before, or you just support?

Nope, I have not played the game, I come from a typical 'mlungu' background, so the game is a new sport for me. Fun on the beach is what I'm used to as a past time, until I found football!

How do you rate the season so far?

AmaZulu have been very disappointing but you back your team whether they are doing well or doing poorly. We just gotta keep shouting and blowing those vuvuzelas and hope the guys come to the party soon!

Your favourite players of all time at Usuthu?

Well, if I could choose a coach instead, previous coach Clive Barker is an Old Boy of my School, Glenwood, and the reason I am an AmaZulu supporter. So Clive is it!

Your favourate Usuthu player?

Dumisani Ngwenya, because we need his striking skills!

If you were to work for a day at the club, which role you would take and why?

Eish... Coordinating a visit by Usuthu to a school in Durban.
