Joburg Blog : 4-0 win over Flavio Maputo on Day 4

January 22, 2009

James Dlamini keeps us up to date on the latest update at the ‘Usuthu’ training camp in Johannesburg, this time with the help of Head Coach Neil Tovey.

“Yesterday we played very well against Flavio. We managed to pass the ball very nicely and kept the ball well under the wet conditions.

“Everybody put their work in and we now just have to wait for the matches to begin to see where we stand.

“Litha Ngxabi and Dumisani ‘Thabo’ Ngwenya scored some wonderful goals. The rainfall might have been a bit of a challenge in our plans and that was the case on Wednesday when we had to cancel our game with Kaizer Chiefs.

“We have made most of the trip despite the rain. The pitch is still a bit waterlogged today even though it is not raining. We are going to be training indoors, playing indoor soccer at Edendale Indoor Complex.

“Then later to round up the day’s activities we will visit Spar Northrand just to say thank you to our sponsors in formulating a good relationship with our supporters as well.”

“Things have gone very well for us. It must be said that despite a lot of hiccups weather wise we’ve managed to get exactly what we needed.

“We have played two competitive matches out of the three we had organized. The mood is great, the players and the technical team are looking forward to the up coming challenge of going back to league matches.

“Maybe the announcement of the change of PSL fixtures will not make much difference for us because we have prepared ourselves. In fact it will serve us good in that the first match with Golden Arrows which we will now play a day earlier will give us enough recovery time for our home game against Mpumalanga Black Aces.

“It is only one match that will be affected. We will have to wait one week to play the last match by when I’m sure teams like Supersport United will have had the league closer insight. I’m just hoping that by that time, we too will be in the already top 8. We have a lot of work to do still and the camp has been very helpful.”
