Tovey relishes team effort

AmaZulu manager Neil Tovey said today that the tremendous effort put into training during the January played a big role in the outcome of the KZN derby match against Golden Arrows last night.

Despite missing a few chances after scoring the opening goal, Ayanda Dlamini’s top form of late earned AmaZulu yet another three points.

"The team was well prepared and one could see that they were fighting for each other on the field. The team spirit we built over the break came forward and they were clearly playing as a unit."

“We did miss a few chances in the first half after that early goal. Obviously we knew they would come back much stronger in the second half,”
said the exuberant coach popularly known as 'Mokoko'.

Tovey attributed the Kwa Ceza-born Dlamini’s excellence to his recent awarding of a Diploma in Nursing as the root of his success. The 25 year old striker is now sitting on seven goals.

“He is obviosuly a focused individual who works for the team. I am extremely happy with the work ethic shown by him and all the players. It was a really good derby match from the two teams.

"We needed to close down their passing and not give them much space in the middle. It worked wonders by putting the pressure on them. We have to complement our players for putting in the extreme hard work throughout the night."
