PSL Fixture shake-up

February 18, 2010

A change to the PSL fixture list means AmaZulu will not be facing Santos on Saturday night - the match has been moved to next Wednesday.

The following statement appeared on the PSL website:

Following a lengthy meeting today, the PSL Fixtures Committee have come up with the following plan after two Absa Premiership matches were abandoned on Wednesday night..

The match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows will continue from where it left off and will now be played on Friday, 19 February 2010, at 19h30 at Super Stadium.

“We went by the reports of the match referee and match commissioner who both said that the match was abandoned due to floodlight failure,” said PSL CEO, Kjetil Siem.

“The rules clearly state that if this is the case, the match must be continued within 48 hours of its abandonment or at the CEO’s discretion.”

With the match being played tomorrow, the League’s Fixtures Committee had to perform a juggling act to ensure that fairness is brought about to all teams.

Fixtures scheduled for Saturday evening, will now be moved to Wednesday, 24 February 2010 with the exception of the Mpumalanga Black Aces-Bloemfontein Celtic clash.

Kaizer Chiefs clash against Mpumalanga Black Aces will commence from scratch and this match will also be played on 24 February 2010.

The Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will still go ahead as planned on Saturday 20 February 2010.
