Petersen: We are used to the pressure
February 22, 2010
Calvin Petersen believes that Usuthu's struggles with the relegation zone earlier this season have made them a stronger side, which will be key as they try and earn a top eight finish.
Usuthu meet the Peoples’ Team in Cape Town on Wednesday night (19H30 kick off).

Right hand man to the AmaZulu Head Coach and former Bafana Bafana sharp shooter, Calvin Petersen says of Santos, “We’re facing a consistent team this time, while they have already beaten us at our home venue.”
Petersen is optimistic that fate could assist in getting AmaZulu the positive result they badly need for their top eight hopes.
“We can’t play as badly as we played them in the first round at Ulundi Stadium last year. Playing them at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town is a good omen for us.
“When we train in the heat in Durban, it seems we tend to play well during night games.
“Last week we didn’t play well but we got the result (against Free State Stars), which we had been failing to do at Moses Mabhida, even against so-called vulnerable opponents,” said Petersen.
Santos beat Wits University 3-0, away from home, in their most recent encounter.
Strikers Phikolethu Spelman and Erwin Isaacs are both amoung the more successful target-men in the league this season.
But while its going to be a tough ask for AmaZulu, Petersen remains optimistic that the KZN side can still achieve their goal of a top eight finish.
“Looking at Santos, yes it is a tough one, to be able to beat Bidvest Wits in Joburg shows how determined they are as a team.
“Having said that you can never doubt us, this team can still make it into the top eight. Although we have serious injuries we’re all used to the pressure as the technical team and the players know what this is about, “said Petersen.
